PALMDALE, Calif. — A person making an attempt to steal a catalytic converter from a parked SUV in Southern California was run over and killed when the car’s sleeping driver woke up and began to drive away, authorities stated.
The dying occurred Tuesday night in a retail car parking zone in Palmdale, the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Division stated in an announcement.
Arriving deputies discovered a Ford Tour partially backed out of a parking stall, a person mendacity on the bottom and a smaller car within the subsequent parking stall.
The division stated the Tour driver was asleep when the smaller car pulled up and one of many 4 folks inside received out and started sawing the catalytic converter off the Ford.
“The sufferer awakened from the sound, turned the automobile on, put the car in reverse, and felt a bump like she ran one thing over,” the division stated. “She stopped instantly, leaving the suspect on the bottom after working him over.”
